It's been a gloomy wet day in Minneapolis... but a little bloody mary make's it all better. Plus, they photograph very well. Again, using natural diffuse lighting thanks to the massive cloud cover.

Cindy Sherman at the MOMA in NYC

MOMA | Cindy Sherman

Early in May I was fortunate to be in NYC to view the Cindy Sherman exhibit. I've seen bits and pieces of art through out the years. However, her work needs to be seen in the context of her other work to receive the full impact on how genius her photography is. This exhibit will be traveling, please go see it if you have the chance.

Headphones Study

I've been working with a mid-level brand of Headphone for the last 6 months redesigning the packaging - these, however, are not the headphones I've been working on. These were photographed as test shots for marketing material. One aspect of photographing these headphones I really loved is the simplicity of using natural light. It's much less complicated than the dealing with strobes in the studio. The one downfall is the limit about of light during the day and how through the day the light is constantly shifting from East to West (obviously). The headphones used were from UrbanEars, a super stylish Swedish brand that really knows how use the simplicity of color on the product. Plus, their logo is great - A nod to the traditional holiday ornaments of Sweden.

One other side note on this project, it was my first opportunity to play with my brand new Canon 5D MarkII camera. Compared with the Canon XSI i've been using for the last four years, this one really allows more light into the camera, with an improvement of up to two stops.
